Welcome to The Dead History, a place where history and the paranormal meet, and where the lives of the forgotten come to light. I’m Jennifer Jones, an author, historian, and lifelong explorer of haunted histories. My passion lies in peeling back the layers of the past to uncover the hidden lives and stories behind some of America’s most infamous ghostly legends.
My Journey into Haunted History
My fascination with the supernatural began in childhood, growing up amidst local legends and ghost stories. From eerie cemeteries to stories of restless spirits, I was captivated by the mystery and history behind each tale. This passion evolved into a lifelong pursuit of uncovering haunted locations and the lives of those who once inhabited them. Over the years, I’ve researched, written, and even published a book on haunted places in Northern Utah—Ghosts of Ogden, Brigham City, and Logan—which delves into the eerie side of some of the state’s most storied locations. One of my personal favorite stories from the book is about “Flo’s Grave,” a tale that’s as heart-wrenching as it is haunting.
Why The Dead History?
I created The Dead History to share the compelling stories and real histories behind America’s haunted sites. My mission is to approach these tales with authenticity and respect, presenting not only the supernatural side but also the human side of each story. Here, the people behind the legends matter as much as the legends themselves. I want to introduce you to the real individuals—those who loved, laughed, lost, and, in some cases, left an imprint that lingers in our world.
In today’s paranormal tourism landscape, it’s easy to get lost in sensationalized stories and myths. At The Dead History, I pride myself on providing well-researched, detailed accounts that bridge the gap between history and mystery, allowing readers to connect with these stories on a deeper level. When you read one of my stories, you’re not just learning about a haunting; you’re uncovering the lives of the people who once walked these halls and streets.
A Bit About My Approach
As someone who’s deeply passionate about history and the paranormal, I strive to bring each story to life with meticulous research and genuine empathy. My background as a data analyst has instilled a dedication to accuracy and detail that I carry over into my writing. I don’t just scratch the surface; I dig deep, examining old newspapers, historical archives, and oral histories to give you the most complete picture possible.
I’m also neurodivergent, and my AuDHD gives me a unique perspective on the creative and research process. While I may struggle with some everyday tasks, this part of me also fuels my ability to connect dots and uncover hidden stories that others might overlook. I find my greatest inspiration in cemeteries, old buildings, and places that hold secrets, and I’m here to share them with you.
